Cacao Benefits

First off it is delicious. For example, a chilled cold brew, with a dash of honey and coconut cream on a hot afternoon.....(sigh)

Anyway, there are a slew of cacao health benefits! Here we will break down many of the benefits of cacao, and we will include links to articles where you can dive deeper as well :)

Theobromine! The friend that never lets you down

When you take a sip of Téo you'll notice a bold and bitter taste. That bitterness signals the high amount of Theobromine. Theobromine is an alkaloid that gives cacao its bitter taste. Lets look at some theobromine benefits:

  • Theobromine is a mild stimulant that lasts longer and is not as aggressive as caffeine. Cacao Brew will give you a hand and lift you up softly and then gently put you back down as opposed to the aggressive kick in the face, spike, and drop from beverages like coffee that are high in caffeine.
  • It can aid in respiratory health. It is known to decrease coughing, lessen symptoms of conditions like asthma and bronchitis. This is because it is has natural anti inflammatory, blood flow, airway expansion, and mucous eliminating properties.
  • Theobromine can lower high blood pressure.
  • Theobromine improves mood and has euphoric effects, and can increase motivation as well.

The "Bliss" Chemical

Cacao also has Anandamide, a neurotransmitter found in our brain that is responsible for causing us to feel good. Outside the human brain, Anandamide is only found in few foods, cacao being the most plentiful. This is what gives the euphoric feeling to a person when they eat chocolate, and even more so when they consume cacao. Téo is here to make you happy :)

The "Love" Chemical

Phenylethylamine the "love chemical," is also found in cacao. This is the chemical that give a person the "falling in love" feelings. Think of those butterflies you feel when you see someone you're crushing on. Phenylethylamine is the one letting those butterflies loose. Now cacao wont have such a drastic affect, however this chemical is responsible for the mood increase when consuming cacao. Téo is hoping you fall in love, over and over again. We are here to help that happen ;)

All About the Head and the Heart

Cacao flavanols are known to improve blood and oxygen flow to the brain. Studies suggest regular consumption of cacao reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke, you can read more about it here.
